The Understudies Production Company, Inc. is committed to keeping theatre in the community and the community in theatre. Through its art, The Understudies supports service and aid organizations in Wilkes County that are working to make a positive impact in our community. Together we can transform the way we live, work, and play in Wilkes County one performance at a time!

We understand the struggles non-profit organizations face in funding much-needed programs for our community, and we find it both an honor and privilege to support those organizations and their missions through our art. Each show The Understudies performs supports programs vital to our community. By donating a portion of all proceeds from ticket sales to local organizations, The Understudies is able to serve Wilkes County both on and off stage.
Audition Announcement
December 12 and 14, 2024
Auditions for our upcoming production of Nana's Naughty Knickers will be held on Thursday, December 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday December 14 from 10 a.m. to Noon. Both audition sessions will be at the Wilkes County Public Library in the meeting room on the lower level.
Auditions will include cold readings from the script.
Prepared monologues are not required.

About the show:
Summary
Bridget and her grandmother are about to become roommates. However, what Bridget saw as a unique opportunity to stay with her favorite nana in New York for the summer quickly turns into an experience she’ll never forget. It seems her sweet grandma is running an illegal boutique from her apartment, selling handmade naughty knickers to every senior citizen in the five-borough area! Will Bridget be able to handle all the excitement? Will her nana get arrested – or worse – evicted?

Our Thankfully Wilkes Community Fundraiser is an opportunity for you to support four, non-profit organizations in Wilkes at once PLUS you'll have a chance at winning a basket of gift cards to local businesses! (Imagine getting all your Christmas shopping done with one raffle ticket!)
When purchasing a raffle ticket, simply choose (vote for) your favorite participating non-profit organization to support. A portion of your ticket purchase will go directly to the organization you choose, and the rest will be held in a community money pot. When ticket sales close, one winner will be randomly drawn to receive the basket of gift cards (it could be YOU) and the non-profit organization receiving the most votes will split the community money pot with The Understudies!
What will The Understudies do with its portion of the proceeds? We're glad you asked! We'll use our portion of the money raised to bring you live, theatre entertainment! Our first show opens in February 2025. Stay tuned for all the details! We think you're going to love this production!
